In the Gospel of John, Jesus clearly tells us who he is—the Great I Am—and helps us to discover who we are in him. But the chaos and rush of the world sometimes drown out that truth. In this student devotional, which follows the school year from August through May, students from sixth to twelfth grade can dive into Jesus’s seven “I Am” statements week by week, helping us navigate our identity in Christ as we navigate the academic season. From “I am the true vine” to “I am the way, the truth, and the life,” uncover the freedom each of us has in the risen savior even as we struggle to figure out what God has planned for our life.

The devotional is authored by Cindy Barrineau Curtis, a master teacher, published author, and motivational speaker whose career spans more than 30 years in education, ministry, writing, and speaking. Currently she is the youth director at St. Andrews Parish United Methodist Church, Charleston.
